About this file

This amendment to the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution solicitation provides additional details for the required bags. The solicitation seeks 300 rolls of shrink wrap bags to contain pallets. Each roll must contain between 28 to 30 bags that are 800 gauge polyethylene. The bags will be shrink wrapped around pallets using an infrared heating tunnel and stored indoors, so no UV resistance is needed. Rolls can be cradle packed on pallets for delivery by November 15, 2023. Individual delivery of boxes is not allowed; rolls must be palletized for shipment. The National Stock Number for the bags is 8105-00-191-390.

PAGES 2 and 3 of Amendment A00002

1. Will the DLA consider other than the stated "Polyolefin" material? Given that polyethylene low density construction is today the more specific designation given this type of shrink material, would the DLA consider acceptable, for example, shrink-enabled polyethylene made up of a core of low density with the fractional melt material typically added to obtain the desired shrinkability?

Yes

2. Will the DLA confirm these bags are to be 800 gauge (.008) and not 80 gauge /.0008"?

800 guage

3. If pallets or boxes are the packages that will have this material shrunk around them, will those packages be exposed to the sun or UV for an extended period of time, such that the DLA would be interested in having a UV-resistant additive to the poly that would be specified to have a 6 month or 12 month or longer UV resistance, thus helping to keep the plastic from disintegrating prematurely compared to poly without UV additives?

No, Pallets are stored indoors

4. Would the DLA inform us of the usual means and with what type of equipment by which these bags will be shrunk?

Bags are usually shrunk using an Infrared Heating tunnel. See attached photos

5. Will the bags be shrunk to pallets by a hand-held heat shrink gun or a heated tunnel in or through which the pallets will be situated and/or moved?

Bags shrunk to pallet through heated tunnel

6. Does the DLA have a desired number of bags per roll?

30 bags per roll

7. Does the DLA have a minimum or maximum number of bags per roll it will accept? (this will affect the weight per roll)

28 bags

8. Does the DLA confirm the total number of bags shall be 300, not 300 rolls?

Need 300 rolls

SP3300-24-Q-5002

PAGES 2 and 3 of Amendment A00002

9. Does the DLA have a target date by which it desires to receive these rolls?

11/15/23

10. Relating to Quote Submission Instructions, could you elaborate or specify how you wish the "Controlled by: " and Controlled by: " CUI Category: " Distribution / Dissemination Controls: " verbiage that is to be presented? Specifically, is the Contractor that is providing the quote to put in their organization name after the "Controlled by" words; and what shall be entered as the CUI Category; and what type of information shall be entered after "Distribution / Dissemination Controls: "?

Controlled by your company in the first two, third is procurement and fourth is POC for their company.

11. Can these rolls be cradle-packed on pallets rather than in boxes?

Yes

12. If shipped in boxes, can the boxes be delivered individually by delivery companies such as USPS, or Fedex, rather than grouped on pallets?

No

13. What is the NSN?

8105-00-191-390

14. Who is the Manufacturer?
