Tow Bar Plate

Tow Bar Attach Angles

Gussets

Added Angle

1)Add tow bar plates and attach angles to each end as shown. Tow bar plate (86”x9”x1/2” steel plate) is to be welded across the ends of the three inner I-beams.

2)Tow bar is made of 2.5” schedule 40 black iron pipe and measures 68” wide at the base and is 96” in length (triangular shaped). The tow bar tapers from the 68” base to pintle hitch made of ½” cold rolled steel plate. There is one brace positioned 32” from the base brace made of 2” schedule 40 black iron pipe. See drawing X200412055. Tow bar attaches to tow bar plate with 4”x4”x3/8” angle iron mounts.

3)Hole diameter of tow bar tabs and angles is .75"

4)Add gussets over each caster. Two 6.5"x6.5"x.375" triangular gussets placed just inside of bolts attaching caster. Cut to match contour of I-beam.

5)Grind webbing flat on bottom portion of fork lift channels to make flush with bottom flange of I-beam

6)Add four 4"x4"x3/8"x164" angle across the top of the five I-beams to make dolly more rigid for towing. The outer two angles should be placed just inside braces. The inner two angles should be spaced evenly between braces. All angles should be welded to I-beam.

7)Item 8 on SPI: Weld these angles to the I-beams instead of attaching with bolts.
