The contractor shall provide all equipment and services necessary to remove selected trees, trim others, prune and clean affected areas per attached site map and reference notes.

2. BACKGROUND

Natchez National Historical Park preserves the sites and structures associated with all the peoples of Natchez, from the earliest times to the modern era. The city of Natchez is recognized as historically and culturally significant by its designation of 13 national historic landmarks, 8 National Register of Historic Places districts, and a UNESCO site. The park preserves sites and structures from the age of exploration and beyond that tell stories of early inhabitants, exploration, attacks, slavery, and freedmen.

The Natchez Visitor Center, constructed in 1998, is positioned at the head of the Mississippi River Bridge in Adams, County, Mississippi. The Natchez Visitor Center is headquarters for the Natchez National Historical Park, along with serving as a Mississippi Welcome Center offering park information, exhibits, a gift shop, and short films about the history of Natchez.

The site showcases U.S. history in the south from territorial times to pre and post-civil war times and hosts over twenty events annually with a five-year average of over 218,000 visitors.

The Park has designated trees for complete removal and others for trimming/pruning to promote overall health and appearance. Only qualified arborists and those with sensitivity and/or training with historic trees will work on living trees. Trees that have died, are standing dead, or have fallen over shall be removed. Dead/fallen limbs and debris shall be removed throughout the landscape.
