Project Greater Sedona Recreation Collaborative (GSRC) Facilitation
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The Greater Sedona Recreation Collaborative (GSRC) is a diverse group of community members, businesses, and governmental agencies working together to address the burgeoning recreation impacts in the Sedona, AZ area. Phase 1 was just completed after a multi-year process that was facilitated by Southwest Decision Resources (SDR). The continuation of facilitation is critical to the success of the GSRC as Phase II begins.
2.0 Background
Southwest Decision Resources has been the facilitation team from the start of the GSRC and have been compensated from the other governmental agencies (AZ State Parks) while the USFS works through the contracting process. For over a year SDR has hosted and facilitated regular meetings. As facilitators they have provided research, guided conversations, compiled notes, written a final “recommendations” document and presented findings to various entities.
The GSRC just completed phase I and is about to begin Phase II. Phase one, in short, was the development of a “Recommendation” documented presented to multiple agencies including the City of Sedona, Yavapai county, AZ Game and Fish, and the Coconino National Forest. This document was generated through over a year of research, a dozen Motorized working group meetings and an equal quantity of Co-convenor meetings as well as many smaller Action team meetings. Near total agreement was reached among a very diverse and opinionated group of participants. The Final recommendations document presents multiple actionable items to the Co-Convenors. Response to and implementation of (when and where appropriate) recommendations makes up the bulk of Phase II.
Many of the recommendations involve engagement from and collaboration with the Working Group.
