CONTRACTOR SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE
Station Port O’Connor – Water supply piping
TASK ORDER
PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT
1.0 GENERAL.
1.1 SCOPE. The purpose of this purchase order, under Sector Corpus Christi Engineering Support Division, is to run new water piping to supply the shore-tie water feed as well as several other water faucets.
1.2 BACKGROUND. The current supply pipe that feeds the shore-tie connection as well as several other hose faucets is a cast iron pipe that has failed several times in the last calendar year. During these failures, the station was left without water as the supply valves had to be secured while attempting repairs. During construction it was found that there is another supply line on the east side of the new building that is currently capped off. The project has a goal of tapping off the newer supply line that is copper, and running new copper piping to feed the valves currently connected to the cast iron piping as well as adding more valves closer to the supply from the city to add flexibility in case of future repairs so the mission will not be affected. By connecting the new copper piping, the cast iron pipe will be capped off and no longer a threat of failing. The cast iron pipe will not need to be dug up, just removed from the plumbing circuit.
