About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the annual preventative maintenance of an Agilent gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer (GC/MS) purchased by the Pacific and Coastal Marine Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The SOW requires an Agilent field engineer to perform an annual preventative maintenance service on the GC/MS, including cleaning the mass spectrometer source, replacing consumables, and evaluating the overall performance of the instrument. The service engineer will provide detailed reports and discuss the maintenance performed. The period of performance for this service contract is September 30, 2024 through September 29, 2025.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Notice of Intent to award a sole-source contract to Agilent Technologies for this preventative maintenance service, as Agilent is the only source that can provide maintenance on the proprietary components of the GC/MS. Responses to this notice must be submitted via email by August 30, 2024.

Statement of Work

1.0 Introduction and Background

An Agilent gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer (GC/MS) was purchased new for Pacific and Coastal Marine Science Center in October of 2020. The new purchase came with a 3 -year warranty to cover any necessary repairs in addition to an annual preventative maintenance. This warranty expires in September of 2023. The objective of this purchase requisition is to continue the coverage for the instrument – this is necessary to ensure proper operating conditions of the GC/MS and therefore timely completion of USGS projects.

2.0 Scope

The scope of the service contract purchase is to ensure optimal operating condition of the Agilent GC/MS and have the service provided by expert Agilent field engineers.

3.0 Technical Documents

N/A

4.0 Technical Requirements

Service contractor will perform preventative maintenance on an annual basis. This requires cleaning of the mass spectrometer source and replacing certain consumables such as filament, hydrocarbon/water and oxygen trap. An overall evaluation of the gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer will be performed including a tune.

5.0 Deliverables

Contract engineer will provide detailed reports of operating conditions and maintenance performed of GC/MS in PDF forms sent directly to lab mangers. Engineer will also discuss prior to departure details regarding service performed.

6.0 Performance Standards and Monitoring Methods

Optimum operating conditions including mass spectrometer tune report would be required to determine that performance was complete and adequate.

7.0 Period of Performance (Estimated)

September 30, 2024 – September 29, 2025
