About this file
This document contains a Statement of Work and Request for Information related to the procurement of a cryogen-free dilution refrigerator system. NASA/GSFC is seeking to purchase a Model BF-LD250S dilution refrigerator from Cryomech to support the development of millimeter, sub-millimeter, and infrared detectors. The refrigerator must achieve a base temperature below 30 mK with cooling powers above 250 and 360 microwatts at 100 and 120 mK, respectively. Additional requirements include compatible voltage and wiring configurations. Interested vendors are requested to provide capability statements, cost estimates, schedule assumptions, and design details in response to the RFI by January 27, 2021 for planning purposes. The refrigerator must be delivered within 7 months of contract award and installed and commissioned at NASA/GSFC to verify performance.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Procurement of Helium Dilution Refrigerator System
PR: _____4200751965_______
Background
· NASA/GSFC Astrophysics Science Division (Code 660) conducts hardware research and development in support of numerous near-term science missions and longer-term proposed missions. As part of this effort, NASA is developing cryogenic detectors, which require sub-Kelvin cryogenic systems for testing. This is in support of the development of millimeter, sub-millimeter, and IR detectors.
Scope
· Contractor shall provide, install, and commission an LD250S dilution refrigerator for NASA/GSFC with optical access ports and additional cabling options as detailed in the requirements.
Requirements
The requirements for the base LD250S system are provided by the following specifications:
Base temperature < 30 mK
Cooling power > 250 uW at 100 mK
Cooling power > 360 uW at 120 mK
System configured for 115V 60Hz main voltage
System comes with Cryomech PT415-RM pulse tube
Pulse tube voltage 200/230V 3Ph 60Hz
Temperature controller provided with 8-channel resistive temperature measurement
Four temperature control heaters
Additional included options:
4K heater kit
Vacuum can and radiation shields to have removable bottoms and side access port
6 SCuNi-CuNi coaxial cables from room temperature to the mixing chamber 1 DC wire set, Cu, 35AWG wire, 12 twisted pairs, room temperature to 4K
1 DC wire set, Cu, 35AWG wire, 12 twisted pairs, room temperature to 4K with intermediate breakout at 50K flange.
1 DC wire set, PhBr, 35AWG wire, 12 twisted pairs, room temperature to mixing chamber
1 DC wire set, PhBr, 35AWG wire, 12 twisted pairs, room temperature to mixing chamber with intermediate breakout at still flange.
2 optical fibers, single-mode 1550nm FC/PC-FC/PC installation set from room temperature to mixing chamber.
Deliverables or Delivery Schedule
The deliverables required are the LD250S refrigerator with installed options as described in the requirements. System is to be delivered to Dr. Thomas Essinger-Hileman, Code 665, NASA/GSFC. System is to be installed and commissioned by contractor to verify performance as installed. The delivery schedule is to be no later than 7 months after the receipt of the contract.
