Statement of Work Vela Move Optometry Chair VAMC NJ Lyons Campus
Scope of Work
The Optometry Department at VAMC NJ Lyons Campus is requesting to replace optometry chairs in the eye clinic at the Lyons VAMC. The chairs currently used in the eye clinic special testing room are a constant safety concern for the optometry staff. Due to the poor ergonomics and varying designs, veterans are at risk of sliding off the chair when positioning for ophthalmic imaging or moving from one station to the next. The chairs have wheels, but many are faulty and have no locking mechanism. Some chairs are canted downward from wear putting a patient at risk for sliding off. Some chairs do not have arm rests, or the arm rests are unstable. The current models pose a risk to patient safety and need to be immediately replaced. In addition, chairs that have no wheels are causing damage to the floors in our testing room due to constant scuffing from patients sliding the chairs to reach the testing equipment.
The VELA 7082 Move Ophthalmology Chair is the requested chair as a committee of optometrists at the facility found that they meet all the standards for patient safety as well as putting the patient in proper position for clinical assessment. The service will accept brand name or equal. Some of the features of the chair is as follows:
