About this file

This document includes a Statement of Work and Notice of Intent to conduct a sole source procurement. The Statement of Work outlines requirements for a maintenance agreement for sixteen Getinge sterilizers and washers located at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Integrated Research Facility. Services include preventative maintenance visits, calibration, telephone support, on-site response and repairs using original equipment manufacturer parts. The period of performance is January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023.

The Notice of Intent is to negotiate solely with Getinge USA Sales, LLC for a renewal service plan for thirteen sterilizers and three washers. Services match those in the Statement of Work and allow for optimal performance in biocontainment laboratories. Responses were due by December 29, 2022 and award will occur within sixteen days. As the original equipment manufacturer, only Getinge has trained technicians and proprietary software for equipment maintenance.

1.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Integrated Research Facility (IRF), conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. In support of the combined missions of NIAID and the National Interagency Biodefense (NIB) Campus, the IRF conducts advanced imaging and performs assay optimization and ruggedization for high-throughput analysis of a wide variety of in vivo and in vitro studies involving high-consequence pathogens to further understand prevention and treatment options for patients. Thus, the laboratories and core sections have an ongoing need for annual maintenance to ensure optimal function of sterilization and disinfecting equipment located within the Lab at the IRF.

2.0 PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

The objective of this acquisition is to provide a service maintenance agreement for Getinge USA Sales various models of sterilizers and washers/disinfectors a total of sixteen (16) instruments. The instruments models consist of the following:

Equipment is housed in a BSL-3/4 facility and as such equipment is routinely decontaminated after spills, splashes, or other potential contamination before repair, maintenance, or removal from laboratory. In general, BSL-2 and BSL-4 laboratory areas are decontaminated by expose to paraformaldehyde followed by ammonium bicarbonate neutralization.

These machines are constantly in use throughout the day and if it were put out of action due to lack of maintenance or mechanical failure the ability of the investigators in the IRF to conduct their research would be severely handicapped. It is for this reason that a renewal service maintenance agreement is essential.
