The site visit shall be for the purpose of observing firsthand any conditions relevant to the completion of this project. No consideration will be given to claims based on lack of knowledge of existing conditions, except where contract documents make definite provisions for adjustment in cost or extension due to existing conditions not readily foreseeable. This project is located at USDA-ARS in Stoneville, MS.

Utilization of Bio-Based Products: The contractor shall utilize products and material based from bio-based materials, (e.g. bio-based greases; bio-based hydraulic fluids, bio-based absorbents), to the maximum extent possible without jeopardizing the intended end use of detracting from the overall quality delivered to the end user. All supplies and materials shall be of a type and quality that conform to the applicable Federal Specifications and Standards. All supplies and materials to be used in the performance of work described herein are subject to the approval of the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Products can be found at:

https://www.biopreferred.gov

Safety: The contractor will submit a Site Safety Specific Plan/Accident Prevention Plan in industry recognizable format to the Contracting Officer within 7 days of contract award. The Plan shall include phone numbers and maps to the local Dr.

Base Bid: Provide all equipment, materials, (other than USDA furnished Channels and Headed Concrete Anchor Studs), and labor to install C4x4.5 steel channels to serve as guidance tracks for cotton trailers. Drawings are shown below.

There are (3) bays within the open metal building shed #31. There shall be (3) 90’ guidance tracks installed per bay, spaced as shown on the drawings, for a total of (9) guidance tracks within the (3) bays, at 810 total linear feet. Each guidance track location will require sawcut both edges of existing asphalt to provide 90’ long x 1’-6” width x 12” trench.

The asphalt, gravel and soil beneath the asphalt, shall be excavated to a depth of 12” to provide a clean, well defined vertical surface. Remove loose, objectionable material from the trench and dispose from site. Provide moisture and compaction as necessary to ensure a sufficiently stable base. USDA will furnish C4x4.5 steel channels in 20’ lengths and ½” x 6” headed steel concrete anchor studs. Contractor shall weld the anchor studs to the bottom of the channels. Each end of the (9) guidance tracks shall have 3/8” welded steel endplates. The channels with welded headed concrete anchor studs shall be embedded within minimum 3500 psi concrete with top elevation of channel flanges flush with top elevation of adjacent asphalt. The concrete shall include (2) #6 re-bars with chairs longitudinally in trench as shown on the drawings and maintain minimum 3” distance from concrete edges. Contractor will provide concrete design mix for minimum 3500 psi @ 28 days ultimate compressive strength to USDA EPM for approval (7) days prior to concrete pour. If necessary, the subgrade shall be dampened with water immediately before concrete placement to ensure subgrade does not “leech” water from the plastic concrete mix.
