STATEMENT OF WORK
A. Background The USDA-ARS-PA Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center (GFHNRC) has a requirement for an MRI whole body composition analyzer capable of measuring fat-mass, lean-mass, free-water and total-body-water for various animal studies involving animal growth, metabolism and diet. The studies will be IACUC approved and are critical to our understanding of how diet, physical activity, and other factors affect Americans using animals as a model.
B. Description of Supplies The contractor shall provide the GFHNRC with an MRI whole body composition analyzer capable of measuring fat-mass, lean-mass, free-water and total-body-water in live animals up to 700g without the use of anesthesia or special preparation. It must also have the option to measure live animals weighing ≤100g as well as organs or tissues ≤7g. The analyzer must include all hardware, software, accessories and components necessary for operational capability upon installation.
