ST A TEMENT OF WORK
(Clear Creek and Battle Creek Juvenile Salmonid Monitoring Programs) (02/27/2020)
Contract
Two (2) 5' rotary screw traps with one (1) custom trailer
1. GENERAL:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Red Bluff Fish and Wildlife Office (RBFWO), 10950 Tyler Road, Red Bluff, CA 96080, has been monitoring populations of Chinook salmon on Clear Creek since 1995 and on Battle Creek since 1998. Populations of fall run, spring-run, and late-fall run Chinook have increased or been established in Clear Creek since 1995 due to salmonid habitat restoration efforts including increased flows, dam removal, stream channel reconstruction, and spawning gravel supplementation.
Major restoration efforts have also been conducted on Battle Creek (Battle Creek Salmon and steelhead Restoration Project). The Executed Interagency Agreement No.
Rl 5PG00067 - Fisheries Monitoring Activities - Sacramento River, Clear Creek and Battle Creek, requires that the RBFWO use a rotary screw traps (RSTs) on Clear Creek to estimate juvenile production for Chinook salmon and steelhead during the trap operation period from November through July, which incorporates nearly the entire emigration period for the target species. Operate the trap seven (7) days per week during peak emigration periods. It also requires RBFWO to use a RST on Battle Creek to estimate juvenile production for spring Chinook salmon and steelhead. Operate the trap seven (7) days per week during peak emigration periods. The reintroduction of winter-run Chinook Salmon in to Battle Creek requires us now to trap year-round. The RBFWO is requesting to purchase and have delivered two (2) 5' RSTs and one(l ) custom trailer. One RST will be used to replace the storm damaged RST at the upper Clear Creek sample site. Since trapping on Battle Creek will now be year-round, the second RST will be put into operation when the currently owned RST needs to be dry docked for maintenance and repatrs.
