Jungle Gym Proposal
Bullet Points
Electrical
120v duplex outlets, one on each corner ground level and two on subsequent levels inside and out with 15 amp capacity (waterproof outdoor electrical boxes)
Types and styles of lighting, LED flood lights on the outside hard wired in with IP65 or greater protection. Lights to illuminate sides with ladders with 5-10 foot-candles at ground level. Inside lights should have serviceable bulbs with 10-15 foot-candles.
Electrical wiring, Any method is acceptable provided it meets the NEC once installed Breaker Panel, should be installed and integral to the structure Electronically grounded at installation, please meet NEC grounding requirements for the electrical work
Structural
Material for roof, Prefer metal roof with concealed fasteners Fabricated roof bolted to connex boxes Roof gutters not needed
Surface to be mounted on should be pavement or existing concrete foundation ensure connex box set up is level
Overall height limit request to keep under 40 feet (see pic) Structural materials is up to contractor to maintain a life expectance of at least 20 years
(galvanized, weathering steel or aluminum)
Connex Box
New connex boxes Exterior Dimensions of bottom connex is 20’x 8’ x 8’6, man door on length side (see pic) Exterior Dimensions of top connex box is 10’ x 8’ x 8’6, man door on width side (see pic) Storage racks for fall gear, shelves, wall hangers for both upper and lower connex boxes
Safety Features
Anchor points above both ladders, Pad-eyes to attach SRLs (Self Retracting Lifelines) anchor points shall be capable of sustaining a minimum tensile load of 5,000 pounds per OSHA 1915.159(a)(3)
4 Pad-eyes installed are for lifting purposes on roof -this allows for ease of movement with a crane/transport
Safety handrails with toe-boards made of steel on top of both connex boxes, boxes top rail must be 42 inches plus or minus 3 inches above the walking working surface (1910.29(b)(1), midrails are installed at a height midway between the top edge of the guardrail system and walking-working surface (1910.29(b)(2)(i), top rail must be able to withstand a force of 200 lbs (1910.29(b)(3) and midrail 150lbs (1910.29(b)(5), toe-boards have a minimum vertical height of
3.5 inches, do not have more than a .25 inch gap between toe-board and walking-working surface, are solid and do not have openings that exceed 1 inch and are capable of withstanding 50lbs of force (1910.29(k)(1)
2 ladders (footing must have traction-non skid) with DBI-SALA ladder safety cable vertical safety system on side of connex boxes (see pic)
2 self-closing swing gates at the top of each ladder made of stainless steel or painted for weather
Comply with OSHA and WISHA standards when designing this structure
General
On-site reassembly is required- ability for disassembly for movement/transport No windows needed, 2 man doors made of painted steel Capacity for roof and decking, not to exceed 10 people Anchoring system required to prevent tipping during use or seismic event
Painted metal decking with adequate support structure for walking surfaces that should include non-skid paint due to outdoor environment
Structure may need to be disassembled for shipping and designed in accordance with ASCE 7 (American Society of Civil Engineers) and AISC 360 (American Institute of Steel Construction) as applicable
