About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details antenna removal, relocation, and installation services for NASA Langley Research Center. The project involves removing, relocating, and installing three antennas on the 4th level of Building 1297 Gantry, including new RF cable installation (one ~400-foot and two ~350-foot cables), cable testing, and antenna mast setup. Specific requirements include purchasing two new antennas (1 UHF Omni Antenna at 448.6500MHz and 1 VHF Omni Antenna at 146.0700MHz), with a third VHF antenna provided as government-furnished equipment. The work involves detailed technical specifications such as using LMR-600 or 1/2-inch heliax cables, applying "N type male" connectors, conducting cable integrity testing with a Time Domain Reflectometer, and ensuring minimal communication system downtime. The performance location is NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, with an estimated completion time of approximately 7 days, subject to potential weather-related delays.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Objective/Requirements This work will require the removal, relocation, installation of three antennas, associated cabling, connectors, and cable testing on the center bent 4th level of Building 1297 Gantry.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs The contractor shall perform the following duties:

Due to the nature of the communications each antenna supports, disconnecting the existing antennas will be the last item to conduct. This is to minimize the downtime of communications support.

Run new RF cable to each new antenna location. LMR-600 or 1/2inch heliax. Cable lengths are one (1) at ~400 feet and two (2) ~350 feet. New install locations will be identified and appropriately marked by Lee Joyce.

All new cables to be appropriately labeled at each end and along the path.

Secure new RF cable along the path utilizing ½ inch stackable snap in or similar.

Apply new cable connectors “N type male” on both ends of the newly install cables.

Conduct testing on each new cable to verify cable integrity (after installation) is within normal RF specifications with the type of cable utilized. Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) recommended or similar.

Install antenna masts and new antennas at marked locations.

New antennas to purchase will consist of the following:

o 1each UHF Omni Antenna operating at 448.6500MHz o 1each VHF Omni Antenna operating at 146.0700MHz o UHF antenna type136-174Mhz/380-520Mhz/698-960 Mhz,2dBi, Collinear

Omni Antenna Sinclair Technologies: or CommScope DB411-B Dipole Omni antenna.

o VHF antenna type136-174Mhz/380-520Mhz/698-960 Mhz,2dBi,Collinear Omni Antenna Sinclair Technologies: or CommScope DB224-E Dipole Omni antenna

There is a total of three (3) antennas to be relocated from the present location.

Two (2) antennas will require the purchase of the item. The third antenna (VHF) is on hand GFE.

Connect new cables to antennas and test for operational readiness.

Complete testing of all newly installed RF cables and antennas shall be performed after all work is completed, before connecting to transmitters. This will ensure there are no high level RF reflections to damage the transmitter. Documentation of test results will be required.

Remove all old cable from the previous existing antennas and discard.

3. Place of Performance NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton Virginia, Building 1297 Gantry 4th level.

4. Period of Performance

Completion of work will require approximately 7 days. Could be longer due to weather impacts.

Building 1297 Gantry has work limitations when weather is a factor etc.; rain, windy conditions and thunderstorms in the general vicinity.
