About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA Marshall Space Flight Center's requirement for laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) printing of ten turbomachinery components using specialized nickel-based alloys. The specific alloys include NASA's burn-resistant ORCAlloy-21, oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy GRX-810, K Monel, and Inconel 718, which will be used to develop test hardware for an in-house rotating detonation rocket engine (InRoDES) program.

The vendor must provide an EOS L-PBF machine capable of processing these specialized alloys, track powder lots, complete powder removal, and maintain detailed build records. The vendor will coordinate with NASA points of contact during powder processing and must notify NASA of any errors or powder switching during development builds. The performance period runs from May 28, 2025 through August 31, 2025, with all deliverables to be shipped to Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Deliverables include the manufactured turbomachinery parts and a comprehensive report documenting the build process, errors, and powder tracking.

Turbomachinery Manufacturing GRX-810, Orcalloy21, K Monel and Inconel 718 Statement of Work (SOW)

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), specifically Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) has a need for laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) printing and post processing of ten (10) turbomachinery components which must employ novel additively manufactured (AM) NASA Nickel-based burn resistant alloy ORCAlloy-21 and oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy GRX-810. Additional superalloys include K Monel and Inconel 718. These component builds are necessary for test hardware for the turbopump for InRoDES in house rotating detonation rocket engine development program.

SOW is as follows.

1. The vendor shall provide an EOS L-PBF machine with parameters for builds using the burn resistant Ni-based alloys including ORCAlloy-14 other ODS-based custom NASA alloys such as GRX-810, and standard AM alloys K Monel and Inconel 718.

2. Vendor shall notify NASA of any errors or issues during development builds.

3. Vendor shall notify NASA if powder is switched at any time to a different alloy during the

NASA alloy development builds.

4. Vendor shall complete powder removal after removal from the machine.

5. Powder lots shall be tracked on a best effort basis to determine multiple uses (for additional studies on recycled powder).

6. Vendor shall provide build records and any powder certifications associated for traceability of builds.

7. Parts will include Qty 10 turbomachinery hardware to include inducers, impellers, volutes and other complex turbomachinery hardware where drawings will be provided by NASA.

8. Vendor shall coordinate with NASA POC’s to process powder.

9. NASA shall provide all geometry and models required for builds.

Period of Performance (POP) May 28, 2025 through August 31, 2025.

Shipping

1. Contractor shall ship or hand deliver all deliverables and process development samples to:

Marshall Space Flight Center Central Receiving, Bldg 4631 Huntsville, AL 35812

Deliverables

1. Parts built under SOW

2. Report on powder lot tracking, errors encountered during builds, powder removal and build records
