Statement of Work Purchase and installation of Green House

The National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science 101 Pivers Island Road

Beaufort, NC 28516

Has a requirement to replace an ageing Green House for sediment and seawater experiments.

Objective

The objective is to replace the existing Green House that is in a state of collapse and disrepair, which is over 20 years a new 24” x 48”, Green House. The existing Green House plastic panels and structural frame is failing and will be torn down as soon as a new one is purchased. The existing Green House is about 10 years past the equipment/plastic life expectancy.

The in-house maintenance staff will perform the removal and installation of the new Green House to minimize the costs associated with the replacement. They will be complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The maintenance staff will perform the replacement with our own trained, skilled, professional technicians who are familiar with construction and installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair procedures.

The complexity of the scientific research conducted at the NCCOS site on Pivers Island requires maintaining a greenhouse environment for scientific research to contain and keep the local environmental conditions for the live specimens.

Scope of Work (SOW)

The purpose of this contract is to replace failing Green House:

The Beaufort Maintenance Staff will Demo and remove the existing Green House structure and replace it with a new one constructed to same specification but with wind rated framing and panels that will with stand up to 130 mph winds. The Beaufort Maintenance staff will isolate the utilities associated with the existing Green House Structure.

Approved locations for dumpsters will be identified by the building maintenance staff for disposal of the demo materials, and the frequency for removal from the facility shall be described in the maintenance demolition plan. Demolished equipment and materials shall not be stored on-site. All requirements for disposal of special materials such as lubricants shall be in accordance with all applicable County, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and codes.

The following material and specifications or equivalent are requested.

Green House Frame Details

Width: 24 Ft ' Length: 48 Ft Eave Height: 8 Ft Column Spacing: 4 Ft Total Sq. Ft.: 1152 Foundation: 1 1 - plates bolted to concrete pad, 2 - columns set in concrete footings Columns: 2" x 4" x 11ga rectangular galvanized steel tube Trusses: 2in x 2in x 15ga upper chords, 2in x 2in x 15ga lower chords (galvanized steel) Purlins: 1.5" x 1.5" x 16ga galvanized steel tube Endwalls: 2 Ea. 2" x 2" x 11ga galvanized steel tube

All Frame Member Materials are to be Manufactured per ASTM-A-500 Specifications Columns will be on 4 ft. spacing to meet 131 mph wind rating

Polycarbonate Cover

Roof:

One (1) ea. Clear 8mm polycarbonate structured sheets joined with aluminum Glazing H and separated from framework with anti-drip adhesive spacers

Sidewalls:

Two (2) ea. Clear 8mm polycarbonate structured sheets joined with aluminum H-channel, eave incorporates a condensate collection channel that diverts condensate from roof to outside of structure

Endwalls:

Two (2) ea. Clear 8mm polycarbonate structured sheets joined with alum H-channel

Doors:rs

• Temperature Logic Controller 5 cooling stages and 1 heating stage

Shade Cloth:Shade Cloth

One (1) ea. White Knit Shade Cloth 50% with Attachment kit 30” x 49”

Structural Engineered Sealed Plans to be included:

One (1) ea. Structural Engineered Sealed Plans (3 Sets of Plans, 1 of Calculations)

• The certified plans provided by The Greenhouse Company of South Carolina, LLC are for permitting for the structural elements of our greenhouse and foundation only, unless otherwise specified. Any other elements of the project that require certification for permitting such as mechanical, electrical or plumbing must be sought through your architect or construction contracting company.

Once the installation of the New Green House is completed, the maintenance staff will successfully demonstrate complete startup and operation of the newly installed systems i.e. Exhaust fans, 208Volt Three Phase electric and lighting to the Chief Engineer.

Tasks: A schedule will be provided for the following tasks:

1. Lock out and tag out of the green house electric and propane gas.

2. Remove and replace defective structure and plastic panels and framing.

3. Install shims and align all doors, Exhaust Vents..

4. Test system electrical circuits.

5. Perform complete start up and operation of the newly installed propane heating system and electric lighting..

6. Ensure that all wiring and installation meet current Federal and State regulations and codes.

7. Host a post-installation inspection of the complete Green House building project with the Chief

Engineer.

8. Properly dispose of all removed equipment and material per Federal, State, and local regulations and codes.

Security/Safety/Environmental Considerations

Work shall be completed while observing all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, security, and environmental considerations of the project.

Conformance with Environmental Management Systems

The Beaufort maintenance staff will perform work consistent with the relevant policies and objectives identified in the agency, organizational, or facility environmental management systems (EMS) set forth in the rules and regulations of the Department of Commerce. The Beaufort Maintenance Staff will perform work in a manner that conforms to all appropriate Environmental Management Programs and Operational Controls identified by the agency, organizational, or facility EMS, and shall provide monitoring and measurement information as necessary for the organization to address environmental performance relative to the environmental, energy, and transportation management goals. In the event an environmental nonconformance or noncompliance associated with the contracted services is identified, the Beaufort Maintenance Staff shall expeditiously take all necessary corrective or preventative actions.

In the case of a noncompliance, the Beaufort Maintenance Staff shall respond and take corrective action immediately.

IT Security Requirements: Neither the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) nor the Assessment and Authentication (A&A) requirements of Clause 48 CFR 1352.239-72 apply to this contract, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required.

Work Schedules/Shifts: The Beaufort Maintenance Staff shall accomplish all work for the Demo and installation of the New Green House during the hours of 0600 and 1700, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays.
