STATEMENT OF WORK

Quarters Plumbing Replacement

Jordan River National Fish Hatchery 6623 Turner Road Elmira, MI 49730

1. SCOPE: The work to be performed is for the residential quarters 1,2,3,4, and 5 at Jordan River National Fish Hatchery. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to replace the incoming water supply lines and hot and cold-water line distribution system throughout each building with similar sized PEX A piping. The work shall also include replacing and or providing all new shutoff ¼ turn ball valves at all fixtures and two new frost-free wall hydrants/spigots.

1.1. Each of the five residential quarters homes are approximately 1300 square feet. They each have one bathtub, one toilet, one bathroom sink, one kitchen sink, one utility sink, one hot water heater, one washer hookup, one drinking water filter and two outdoor frost- free spigots. The existing piping shall be removed and disposed of and PEX shall be run to and connected to each of these fixtures.

1.2. The work shall start where the water line enters the basement floor of each house. A shutoff ball valve shall be installed at the location where the well water line enters the basement. The replacement plumbing work shall include replacing all the hot and cold-water lines and valves up to the existing to stop valves work shall also include new ¼ turn ball stop valves for each sink, toilet, and the hot water heater. The hot water heater shall have new copper supply lines installed approximately 18 inches from the top of the hot water heater from that point the PEX shall be attached to the hot water heater. New shutoffs ball valves shall also be installed at this location. The bathtub supply lines will be replaced up to a point of the last available access without cutting into a wall for access, shut off ¼ turn ball valves will be installed at that location where the new PEX joins with the existing lines in the wall which connect to existing tub lines. Before the PEX line goes up through the floor the PEX shall be marked with a black Sharpie to indicate which fixture the line serves.

1.3. Work shall also include all demolition, removal, and proper disposal off site of all existing hot and cold-water plumbing lines, and all other demolition materials. All work performed shall meet Michigan plumbing code. PEX A manufacture installation instructions must be followed which includes pipe support requirements to prevent sagging and provide a loop for expansion of the PEX line for long runs. All PEX A lines shall be loosely fastened to the underside of the floor joist to allow the lines to expand and contract. PEX A piping shall be connected using stainless steel clamps or crimped connections.

1.4. Install a whole house shut off ball valve where the water enters the basement wall.

Install isolation shut off 1/4 turn ball valves for each, hot and cold-water supply line, the laundry tub, the existing drinking water filter, and each of the outdoor spigots. Supply and install two new frost- free outdoor hose bibs at the same location as the existing

The contractor shall remove the existing utility basin and install a new government supplied double sink utility basin at the same location as the existing basin. Insulate all hot and cold water piping accessible in the basement and where possible on main floor using foam tube style pipe insulation.

1.5. Most of the work will be performed in the unfinished basement which provides good access to water lines.

1.6. The existing water lines for the bathroom vanity shall be accessed through a bedroom closet wall. The contractor shall cut open the wall as necessary to access the plumbing to complete the removal and replacement of the supply lines to the sink. The government shall complete the wall repair. No drywall repair or painting will be part of this contract.

1.7. Contractor shall verify all piping dimensions and quantity of each material necessary and replace the existing piping and valves with new PEX-A potable water piping and valves of equivalent or larger size materials.

1.8. Contractor shall have water operational in each house at the end of each workday.

2. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE:

3. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Complete within 30 days after Award.

4. AVAILABILITY: Normal duty hours are Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Other work periods may be available pending prior approval of hatchery manager.

4.1. The Contractor shall notify the COR and Hatchery Manager at least seven days prior to start of on-site work.

4.2. Non-duty hours include weeknights, weekends, and Government holidays (e.g., New Year’s Day, Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas).

5. EVALUATION AND ACCEPTANCE: The work shall be accepted when all the work is completed as described here within and in accordance with any contract specifications. Work shall be inspected to assure compliance with the contract documents. Quality control and adherence to all contract requirements is still the responsibility of the contractor. The station point of contact must complete written confirmation of the cleaning and observable quality control acceptance prior to payment authorization.
