STATEMENT OF WORK

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) National Convention October 25 – 28, 2023, Los Angeles, CA

Corporate Partnership Council (CPC) Partnership

PR: __4200799674____

Background The Society of Woman Engineers (SWE) was founded in 1950 and had their first annual National Convention in New York City in 1951. In 1952, SWE was incorporated as a nonprofit educational service organization. SWE also became recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. SWE is comprised of more than 300 collegiate member sections on college and university campuses, 100 Professional chapters nationwide and 60 global affiliate groups throughout the world.

The SWE National Convention will take place October 25-28, 2023 in Los Angeles, CA. The Corporate Partnership Council (CPC) comprises some of SWE’s top industry partners, who advance the mission of SWE: to empower women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, to expand the image of the engineering and technology professions as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion. Corporate Partnership Council Members: support SWE’s mission by providing financial assistance to SWE, provide guidance to SWE on the current employment landscape, act as a consult to Society leadership, sharing insight and industry trends and provide support for new, innovative projects in partnership with the Society. The SWE CPC enables NASA to enhance their engagement at the SWE National Convention in several ways: selecting a career fair booth earlier, recognition in convention and website signage, and designation on our NASA representatives’ convention badges.

Scope This Statement of Work is for the purchase of a Corporate Partnership Council (CPC) sponsorship to enable NASA to participate and recruit at multiple conferences (description of conferences and career fairs below in the requirements section). The purchase is solely funded by NASA HQ Office of STEM Engagement.

NASA is establishing this strategic partnership with SWE at the CPC sponsorship level to support agency Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility goals by enabling access, and engagement in multiple SWE conferences and career fairs. These conferences will enable NASA to share with a diverse community about education programs and initiatives, to encourage students to seek careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to recruit for both NASA internship and professional career opportunities. NASA personnel will be available during Career Fair hours to answer questions and provide information about NASA employment opportunities and education programs.

From a NASA Partnering standpoint the SWE relationship will have a positive impact on NASA in three main areas:

Access to Talent – Significant source of diverse STEM students and professionals that can be recruited at various SWE conferences and career fairs.

Reputation as a Diversity Leader – The annual SWE Convention and the other regional conferences and career fairs, all recognize outstanding diverse talent in the STEM fields.

It provides excellent opportunities for professional development, networking, and recruiting and ensures that the superior achievements and importance of these outstanding individuals in STEM are highly visible to all conference participants. NASA will also participate in the convention career fair to recruit for diverse talent with technical backgrounds.

Employee Development – By actively participating in the panels and in seminars nationally, NASA employees will have the chance to share their knowledge and experiences with the SWE community. As a result, they will build on the professional development experiences and expand their network base. SWE offers a unique opportunity to establish and promote collaborative efforts with diverse talent in government and industry regarding educational programs and employment opportunities at NASA.
