About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the repair and restoration of a Shimadzu MALDI TOF mass spectrometry instrument located at Bartlett Hall, Building 753, Department of Chemical and Biological Science and Engineering. The instrument, serial number 60509/09, is non-functional and requires four specific replacement parts: Axima ACP Viewing Optics Assembly upgrade kit, DSP control PCB (replacing AE4433AB) with Launchpad 2.9.8 or higher, Service/Spares ACP PC Kit Z2G9 (with monitor), and a new Transient recorder PCB. All parts must be new and factory certified with no used components acceptable. The contract covers both parts and labor during the period of performance, with a pre-contract survey already completed by technicians who have confirmed the repairs are achievable based on attached quotes.

The primary task requires the contractor to inspect, repair, and replace parts as necessary to restore the MALDI TOF to its original performance specifications and design capabilities, with no loss of functionality acceptable following repair. Upon completion, the technician must conduct a thorough examination and provide a verbal report documenting all repair actions taken, ensuring all original functionality is restored and operational in the presence of a department laboratory technician or supervisor. The related federal contract opportunity (Solicitation W911SDQA106) indicates the government is conducting market research for this sole-source repair service contract with the Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Eustis, with authority under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
