5.3. Return of Blood: MOMMC may return unmodified, unused units of red blood cell products provided the following considerations are met: proper temperature requirements have been maintained; the integrity of the unit container has been maintained and the label has not been defaced; at least one crossmatch segment remains (unless the blood supplier has approved the use of the last crossmatch segment); requirements for return shipment are followed; and each return shipment is accompanied by a properly completed return request.
