About this file
This document appears to be a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity. The SOW describes the purpose of the contract, which is to establish a passive bio-surveillance network to identify and characterize antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. The key objectives are to: a) establish the bio-surveillance network, b) identify emerging resistance trends, c) characterize the genotypic and phenotypic features of the pathogens, and d) establish a strain collection for further research.
The related federal contract opportunity is for the procurement of 6 boxes of gastrointestinal kit panels IVD, 30 tests per box, to support the ongoing studies. Biofire is the sole provider of these panels, which can detect 22 gastrointestinal pathogens. The procuring agency is the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command. This contract is required to reduce expenses compared to using single-plex tests to identify the bacteria individually.

Text version
A. BACKGROUND: In multiple GEIS funded studies and animals use studies we use these panels. The aims of this study will enable US DoD to obtain information about antibiotic resistance in pathogens circulating in the USSOUTHCOM AOR and to take actions to provide optimal force health protection and treatment guidelines for physicians attending to military personnel returning from this region.
B. OBJECTIVES Describe the purpose of these supplies and how these will be implemented on the project or protocol. Label the general desired outcomes of your new requirement. a. Establish a passive bio-surveillance network for AMR bacterial pathogens in USSOUTHCOM AOR. b. Identify emerging resistance trends in AMR bacterial pathogens in USSOUTHCOM AOR. c. Characterize the genotypic and phenotypic features of AMR bacterial pathogens in USSOUTHCOM AOR. d. Establish a strain collection of AMR bacterial pathogens in USSOUTHCOM AOR that are available to additional research efforts.
