STATEMENT OF WORK
Contract Title: Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) for Research Fisher Scientific: Four (4) Class II A2 Biological Safety Cabinets Background: The funding for the equipment is being provided by the Department of Research for the purposes of site-specific infrastructural improvements. The equipment will be utilized by numerous VA-funded Principal Investigators with access to individually assigned and core Research laboratory spaces on the 4th and 5th floors of the A Building. The proposed biosafety cabinets will replace four 30+ year-old units of same overall dimensions and purpose. The old units have all failed beyond repair. This will provide continuing operations for mission-critical Research activities.
Scope: The contractor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the deliverables described in this statement of work (SOW), except as may otherwise be specified. The contractor shall provide (4) Class II, type A2 biosafety cabinets to provide Research laboratories with flexibility to perform previously approved projects involving biological hazards in areas currently lacking proper biological hazard engineering control. Work shall meet all applicable codes and regulations and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract.
Specific Tasks & Deliverables:
1) Provide four (4) Class II, Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets, 120 V (Made in USA), Width Cabinet: 4 ft, Sash Opening: 8 in or 10 in, fixed or adjustable. No thimble or duct connection.
2) Units shall include 3-inch (76 mm) Supply, 6-inch (152 mm) Exhaust Metal Frame, Separatorless 99.99% @ 0.3 Micron HEPA Filters with Permanent Plenum.
3) Units shall have Stainless Steel Coved Interior, Cord Pass Through Right Sidewall, 115V, 60Hz, 15 Amp, NEMA 5-15P. Interior Outlets, Qty 2 Duplex, NEMA 5-15R, 3 Amp Max, 115V.
4) UV Light is optional and shall be field retrofittable.
5) Provide 5 Year Parts and Labor Warranty including HEPA filters (supply and exhaust, but excluding prefilters, if present).
6) Class II Biological Safety Cabinets are NSF Standard Number 49 compliant.
7) Provide for delivery to the Place of Performance within 60 days of award. Delivery vehicle must be equipped with a lift gate. Each unit must be individually crated with outer dimension not to exceed 48” x 78” x 84”.
Contractor Requirements: If contractor is not present at time of delivery, written uncrating instructions must be provided with delivery. If contractor provides white glove installation service, contractor shall check in with the Research Biosafety Officer (office 5A105) prior to entry into the work site each day. Contractor shall complete all required site-specific safety orientation prior to entry into the work site. Contractor shall not be permitted to access areas of the secure Research area, aside from the work site, without escort from the Research Biosafety Officer, or other designated Research staff. Contractor shall wear all prescribed personal protective equipment for entry into Research areas while at the work site. Contractor shall be responsible for removal debris and waste related to this project.
Period of Performance: Delivery NLT 30 September 2026 Place of Performance: 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Research Department.
Research specific: Research Department shall be responsible for final placement, air/gas/vacuum line hook-up to building supply (as needed), and certification of all units prior to use.
CONTRACT TYPE: The proposed contract type will be Firm-Fixed Price.
TASK ORDERS: When the VA requires the use of CORE services for VA funded research, the VA will issue a funded task order specific to the need of each VA study with a not to exceed amount. The not-to-experienced amount will be monitored by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Costs associated with subsequent task orders will be reimbursed at the university’s published price list at the time of the task order. Task orders will end on 6/30 each year to be consistent with the University’s new fiscal year pricing.
SECURITY: Form 6500 has been completed. Contractor will NOT have access to VA network. VA sensitive information is NOT involved. The A&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
INVOICES. Invoices will be submitted against this task order PO# to Tungsten. The COR will validate the cost associated with each invoice in accordance with the contract prior to certifying.
