About this file

This document is a Requirement Specifications for the Purchase of a Batch Microwave Digestion System. The key requirements include:

The system must have adjustable microwave power up to 1800 watts, a minimum capacity of 12 digestion vessels, precise temperature control up to 300°C, and robust pressure control up to 100 bar. The vessels must be made of high-quality, chemically resistant materials. Required safety features include over-temperature protection, pressure relief mechanisms, door interlocks, and emergency shut-off. An advanced digital control system with programmable methods and data logging is also required.

The delivery timeline is 90 days after award, with the vendor responsible for shipping costs. The system will be installed at the OSHA Technical Center in Sandy, Utah. The government is conducting market research to determine if there are potential businesses capable of providing the required system, but this is not a request for proposal or quotation at this time.

REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATIONS

FOR THE PURCHASE OF BATCH MICROWAVE DIGESTION SYSTEM

1.0 Scope. To obtain a Batch Microwave Digestion System for use in the mission of OSHA to protect America workers as well as to help in the development of new analytical methods.

2.0 Overview. The SLTC has been using microwave digestion systems for metals sample digestion for quite some time. Currently the SLTC has sequential CEM SPD systems that are capable of digesting smaller samples one at a time. The SLTC at this time is incapable of digesting multiple samples at once and is looking for the efficiency that this type of microwave digestion system would provide. The SLTC already has service contracts in place with CEM, and CEM systems are in place and currently being used. CEM SPD systems are needed to provide continuity and continued use of already purchased consumable items. SLTC systems and processes are set up to accommodate and support CEM instrumentation and it is preferred to preserve continuity.

3.0 Requirements. Parts and supplies needed to install two CEM MARS 6 microwave digestion systems. These systems will be installed at the SLTC, and equipment brought into working order. Manufacturers will provide a 12-month warranty against defects in workmanship or material from the installation delivery date.

2. Support Requirements

• Microwave Power: The system must have adjustable microwave power settings, ranging from 0 to 1800 watts or higher.

• Capacity: The system should be capable of processing multiple samples simultaneously, with a minimum capacity of 12 digestion vessels.

• Temperature Control: The system must offer precise temperature control, with a range up to 300°C and an accuracy of ±1°C.

• Pressure Control: The system should feature robust pressure control mechanisms, with pressure limits up to 100 bar and an accuracy of ±0.5 bar.

• Vessels: Digestion vessels must be made of high-quality, chemically resistant materials (e.g., TFM, PFA) and should be easy to clean and maintain.

• Safety Features: The system must include safety features such as over-temperature protection, pressure relief mechanisms, door interlocks, and emergency shut-off.

• Control System: An advanced digital control system with a user-friendly interface, programmable methods, and data logging capabilities is required.

3.1 Once the equipment is received at OTC and verified, if a problem exists with the equipment the vendor will issue a return authorization and pay to have the supplies shipped back to the vendor. The supplies will be repaired or replaced (at the discretion of the vendor) free of charge under warranty.

4.0 Delivery. Products will be delivered 90 days after award. Supplier is responsible for the shipping costs.

5.0 Delivery Location

OSHA Technical Center 8660 S Sandy Pkwy Sandy, UT 84070
