Background On 26 January 2024, the 412 LRS/LGRVM team received an aircraft tow vehicle

(AF07C00287) in for maintenance due to low power condition. After performing a comprehensive inspection on the vehicle, it was determined that the vehicles engine was no longer serviceable due to several issues caused by a faulty turbocharger and other internal components. The failure of the turbocharger caused the engine to over pressurize resulting in failure of other internal engine components and an engine knock condition. The Vehicle Management flight leadership has determined it would be more economical for the Air Force to replace the engine due to factors such as serviceability standards, current malfunction, engine usage (7538 hours), and engine age (17 years).

The Vehicle Management serviceability standards are outline in AFTO 36-1-191 Chapter1.6 through chapter 1.7.
