About this file
This document is a combined synopsis and solicitation for proteomics analysis services to support Alzheimer's and dementia research. The National Institutes of Health National Institute on Drug Abuse seeks a contractor to perform protein biomarker discovery on 50 post-mortem brain tissue samples using a proximity extension assay panel of at least 5,400 protein targets. The analysis will utilize next-generation sequencing to identify potential therapeutic targets and biomarkers. The period of performance is 6 months from award of a firm fixed-price purchase order. Responses are due by the closing date and time of November 30, 2024 to the identified contracting officer via email. The technical evaluation will consider technical capability, past performance, and price.

Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
STATEMENT OF WORK
GENERAL INFORMATION
Title of Project:
Generate Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia Proteomics Analysis
Statement of Need and Purpose:
Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias requires proteomics services leveraging high-throughput protein biomarker discovery.
Background Information and Objective:
Understanding the molecular signature of human brain is essential to study pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. The high protein dynamic range of brain tissue hinders the protein identification and quantification using traditional mass spectrometry-based proteomics. Using a high-throughput protein biomarker discovery platform to study the proteomics in post-mortem frontal cortex tissue novel biomarkers will be investigated. This platform uses partially complementary oligonucleotides to the bait proteins and measured by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Our goal is to identify potential therapeutical targets and biomarkers in patients with early-onsite and late-onsite Alzheimer’s disease.
Period of Performance:
6 months after date of award
SCOPE OF WORK
General Requirements:
Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform the Statement of Work below.
Specific Requirements:
• Contractor shall perform protein biomarker discovery services, Proximity Extension
Assay (PEA), on 50 samples of post-mortem frontal cortex tissues provided by the Government.
• Contractor shall utilize a PEA protein panel of no less than 5400 target sites.
• Contractor shall ensure PEA will utilize partially complementary oligonucleotides to the bait proteins and measured by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) NovaSeq 6000 platform.
• Contractor shall return frozen, unused samples to Government within 2 weeks after completion of services.
• Contractor shall provide R scripts for data analysis. And shall send data to Government via cloud server.
• The Contractor shall provide support and assistance with data troubleshooting when required by the Government.
LEVEL OF EFFORT:
Contractor’s customer service department as well as the technical support department shall return emails and calls within 24 hours of requests.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
The Government will provide Contractor 50 samples of post-mortem frontal cortex tissues.
