Overhaul 6V92 Rotor Blower Assembly

1. SCOPE

This Overhaul Description discusses the opening, inspection, reporting, and repairing of fourteen (14) Rotor Blower Assemblies used on the 6V92 engine for USCG

Surface Forces Logistics Center, Small Boat Product Line (SBPL) stock replenishment. Items as received by the vendor must be complete and have the proper cited part number. Discrepancies shall be reported to the SBPL Contracting

Officer Representative (COR).

2. Work Description

OPEN & INSPECT

The Rotor Blower Assembly shall be opened and inspected in accordance with

(IAW) the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) instructions. The vendor shall inspect the Rotor Blower Assembly and provide an Inspection Report for Approval by the COR. Once approved by COR, the vendor shall proceed with overhaul.

**NOTE**Any blower found Beyond Economical Repair shall be reported to the

SBPL COR for disposition guidance.

DISASSEMBLY

a. Disassemble Each Rotor Blower Assembly IAW OEM recommendations.

b. Test each Rotor Blower Assembly for cracking, damage, and full functional integrity for repair IAW OEM recommendations.

c. Clean all parts and inspect for reuse and/or replacement.

d. Clean and dry parts as needed.

e. Prepare for reassembly.

OVERHAUL / REASSEMBLY

The Rotor Blower Assembly shall be overhauled to a condition which will restore the operating and performance characteristics to the ORIGINAL / LIKE NEW design and technical specifications. Overhauls shall be performed in accordance with

Detroit Diesel and MTU Marine Service (OEM) specifications and standards. All replacement parts shall be new and manufactured by the Original Equipment

Manufacturer, Detroit Diesel/MTU only.

TESTING

After completion of repair, the vendor shall perform standard production tests, IAW

OEM recommendations, to ensure maximum design performance. The vendor shall provide certifications of successful standard production tests for each of the blowers.

One certification shall be placed in the box with each blower, and a copy for each blower shall be forwarded to the Coast Guard COR.

**NOTE** The Government reserves the right to witness any inspections or tests as deemed necessary to ensure that each item or service conform to the prescribed requirements.

3. PRESERVATION

Each blower shall be preserved in accordance with manufacturer instructions;

individually preserved and wrapped to accommodate a period of two (2) years.

4. PACKING AND MARKING FOR SHIPPING

Each unit shall be packed individually in its OEM box which shall be capable of providing adequate protection to the item during multiple shipments.
