MARTINEZ, CALIFORNIA
1. PROJECT PURPOSE AND INTENT
1.1. This Statement of Work (SOW) includes the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, administrative support, and any necessary professional engineering services required for the Design Build effort described therein.
1.2. The purpose of this project is to replace the Building 19 2nd floor SPS De-Ionized (DI) Water Filter Systems with a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system. As well as the demolition and replacement of the associated water piping for the new RO system for the Sterile Processing Department (SPS).
1.3. The Building 19 (B19) SPS services the Martinez Building 19; 2 ORs, as well as 3 GI procedure rooms, and processing of off-site equipment delivered from the Mare Island dental facility. They see an estimated 12 OR cases per day, an additional 12 GI procedures and see deliveries from the off-site dental facility twice per day.
1.4. The existing DI system supplies de-ionized water to a Steris AMSCO 7052HO washer, and a sink mounted tap. The DI system water is also used to lower the contaminant concentration in our utility water that is used by the two Steris sterilizer, by mixing the utility water with the DI water. The new RO system will supply water to the Steris AMSCO 7052HO washer, the sink mounted faucet, as well as an Innowave PCF Ultrasonic Irrigator. And will not supply any water to the sterilizers. The washer and ultrasonic each see about 9 loads per day. With the faucet being left on for long periods of time to help with moving water through the lines.
1.5. The Design Build (DB) contractor shall furnish:
1.5.1. Design: All design Architect and Engineering (AE) services, materials, supplies, equipment, investigations and project supervision, and construction period services associated with this contract. Design shall meet Veteran’s Affair (VA) Design Guides and Design Criteria and VA Master Specifications at the technical information library TIL (www.cfm.va.gov/TIL), including providing a RO water system and piping that meets VA physical security design guide requirements and access requirements per VA Design guide. Design shall follow all current applicable codes and standards, including, but not limited to, International Building Codes (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and ANSI/AAMI ST108.
1.5.2. Construction: All labor, materials, supervision, and administration for the complete construction of the project.
1.6. The Design Build Contractor (DB Contractor) shall consider the current utility room where the RO system will be installed, along with existing equipment in the room and the equipment it will serve, (Steris washer, sink faucet, and Innowave Ultrasonic) and design and install the RO system for the space and is within the approved budget.
1.7. The expectation is surface mounted equipment without intruding into the wall. This is to reduce the dust created and assist in future maintenance.
1.8. The DB Contractor will need to follow VA ICRA requirements. An ICRA level 4 will be required for the project. Including hard barriers and ante-room.
1.9. The DB Contractor shall assume there will be no staging area.
1.10. A preliminary/pre-proposal site visit is strongly encouraged. Design-Build contractor to coordinate site visit(s) with the Contracting Officer CO. Contractor(s) must take appropriate safety precautions when conducting field investigations and notify the COR of any/all hazardous material, substances and/or circumstance discoveries. VA http://www.cfm.va.gov/TIL will provide on-file site drawings for applicable disciplines (i.e. Site, Civil, Architectural, Structural, Seismic, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.). Not all drawings are in electronic format or up to date, but available as-builts will be provided. The Design-Build contractor shall be responsible for field verification of existing conditions of all utilities, structures, and barriers.
