B. During 2012, lead-based paint testing was performed using a RMD Model LPA-1B, X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectrum analyzer, serial #1124. Assessment activities and XRF testing were performed in accordance with the United States HUD guidance document, entitled “Guidelines for the Evaluation and Control of Lead-Based Paint Hazards in Housing,” 1997 Revision.
C. RMD Model LPA-1B XRF uses a 12 millicurie Cobalt 57 sealed radioactive source which has a half-life of 18 months. The XRF measures the L & K electron shell energy released by the excited atoms of the test material such as the painted and/or coated surface location to calculate the concentrations of a specific metal on the surface coating down to the substrate. The XRF test results indicate that select painted surfaces and building components were found to be containing lead above the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, and United States Environmental Protection Agency definition of lead-based paint.
D. The Lead XRF Result for the Gantry Crane was 3.0 to 2.4 (mg/cm²).
