TECHNICAL PROVISIONS

SECTION 1

PRELIMINARY WORK AND DISMOUNTING

TP-1-01: PREPARATION AND PROTECTION OF THE WORK SITE

According to the ENs, to comply with in matters of safety and health, the contractor shall fence the work site, install scaffolding, and shall take all precautions to protect his personnel, and the personnel and users of the building. The work site area shall be completely protected by a rigid fence type HERAS 2 meter height (to be submitted to the COR’s approval) to prohibit access to unauthorized people. For safety purposes, a scaffolding shall be built all around the building for the replacement of the roof and edge panels.

The contractor shall install a double plastic protection over the equipment in order to prevent dust from spreading into the building during the work.

The launderette will be accessible by public during works except at the time of replacement of wooden panel (see TP-2-

01).

TP-1-02: DISMOUNTING

Dismounted items mentioned below include the removal and evacuation out of the military area of all debris resulting from the work. All debris will be evacuated to an authorized public dump at the contractor’s expense. All dismounted items become the property of the contractor, unless otherwise specified in these specifications.

Any damage caused by the contractor’s personnel during the demolition work will be repaired at his cost.

Following items are given as an indication. This list is not limitative. The contractor will carry out all required investigations to complete it if necessary.

Removal of all zinc finish profiles (edge profiles, roof gutter, etc.)

Dismounting of zinc water downspouts, shoes, fasteners, etc.

TP-1-03: REMOVAL OF OLD WATERTIGHT LAYER AND INSULATION

This item includes the complete removal of the watertight layer and its insulation.

The removal of the existing roof overlay will be performed manually or with a machine, at the contractor’s choice. If the genuine watertight layer in bitumen is still present, the contractor has to remove it in order to achieve a perfectly clean support free of any product that could hinder the good execution of the new insulation, its adherence or the stability of the insulating material. The contractor will remove all loose elements and will evacuate them out of the military area.

Precautions: During the removal of the watertight layer, the contractor has to disconnect the water downspouts in order not to clog the existing piping.

SECTION 2

ROOF RENOVATION

The renovation of the roof of the building 20081 consists of removing the all old membranes and Insulation with coating. The support will then be cleaned and repaired at the damaged location before putting the new wooden panels and the watertight layer

(vapor barrier, insulation, sublayer and watertight layer).

TP-2-01: REPLACEMENT OF WOODEN PANEL

Once the bituminous overlay is removed, the wooden panels shall be removed carefully and replaced by new OSB4 panels.

The old insulation between the ceiling and the wooden panels will be removed too and it is included in this item.

The Launderette will be only closed for 3 weeks during the replacement of wooden panel.

The unit price includes the supply and installation of the panels with all required fittings: plugs, preparation of the support, possible drillings in the roof, finishing of edges with necessary chamfers and rounding off for the future installation of the water tightness layer.

The panels will be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

MATERIALS

The wooden flooring is strong enough to bear the permanent and use loads.

In the case of flat roofs, it is adapted for the installation of a watertight layer. It is fitted with all elements for the installation and fastening of the watertight layer, including the finishing of the edges, possible chamfers, drillings and hollows/grooves.

The flooring is made of OSB type 4 panels (Oriented Strand Board), conform to NBN EN 300 and STS 04.4. Thickness: 22mm.

The technical solution shall be submitted for approval to the COR within thirty (30) days after contract award date.

TP-2-02: BITUMINOUS ADHERENCE VARNISH

On a dry and clean support, apply a primer coating type ELASTOCOL 600 or equal with a brush or a roller. This is a cold impregnation product with elastomere basis, volatile solvents and resins. It is designed to impregnate supports in order to ensure a good adherence of the self-adhesive bituminous membranes.

The primer coating is applied on the entire surface of the roof in contact with the vapor barrier, as well as on all raised parts.

To obtain a good adherence, the membrane shall be laid at a temperature above +10oC. If the temperature is lower, the support shall be heated. Before use, the rolls shall be kept at least 12 hours at a temperature above +10oC.

Volumic mass at 23c: 870kg/m3.

The technical solution shall be submitted for approval to the COR within thirty (30) days after contract award date.

TP-2-03: VAPOR BARRIER

Before installing the vapor barrier, the wooden panel support will be impregnated with a bituminous adherence varnish see TP-2-

02.

Rolls shall be aligned and stuck on the support with an overlap of 7cm. Rolls shall be installed in lengthways from bottom to top.

Self-adhesive membrane composed of SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) type SOPRAVAP STICK C15 or equal modified bitumen and a composite polyester reinforcement. Mainly used as a vapor barrier on steel deck and wood constructions.

The upper surface is finished with talcum/sand.

The self-adhesive overlap and lower surface are protected by a silicone release film.

The vapor barrier shall be approved by ATG technical agreement and norm EN 13970.
