Item Name: Winch, Drum, Vehicular
NSN: 2590-01-592-5936
Part Number: 52060-008 (CAGE 0EJ14, DP Manufacturing, Inc.)

RESPONSE DATE:

REQUIREMENTS DESCRIPTION:
This heavy-duty winch drum is a key component of the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) M1070A1 vehicle, used to safely load and unload tanks and other large military vehicles. It provides the necessary pulling power for the HET to effectively transport equipment, directly impacting our ability to deploy and sustain military operations. This action is done using a motor that will turn a spindle from which the drum assembly is attached that in turn either winds or unwinds a cable. The cable is attached to a fixed point that assists in the winch mechanism to be able to move the vehicle without the use of the engine or traditional vehicle function. The cable needs to be strong enough to either move the HET or potentially any other vehicle that could utilize the winch for vehicle recovery. A functioning winch drum is essential for maintaining the HET’s operational capability.
