About this file
This is a Sources Sought Notice (Reference Number: SS-NAMRU-258C2) issued by the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit Europe, Africa, Central (NAMRU EURAFCENT) for market research purposes to identify qualified contractors to support a clinical research study evaluating the Xpert® Tropical Fever test on the GeneXpert® Edge X system. The study will assess the diagnostic performance of the automated molecular assay in identifying nucleic acids from multiple fever-causing pathogens (Plasmodium species, Dengue virus, Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, and Leptospira species) using venous and capillary whole blood specimens from approximately 300 patients with suspected tropical fever. All work will be performed at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Ghana over an anticipated 12-month base year with one 6-month option period.
Interested contractors must submit capability statements not exceeding 10 pages by March 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM Central European Time to the four listed points of contact. Required services include project management with qualified personnel (Principal Investigator, clinical staff, phlebotomists, laboratory technicians), regulatory compliance including IRB approvals and GCP adherence, patient enrollment and screening, venous and capillary blood sample collection and processing, on-site diagnostic testing using the Government-furnished GeneXpert system, comparator testing using the Biofire Global Fever Panel with discrepant analysis via sequencing, data management with quality assurance, and monthly status reporting. Capability statements must address company profile information (name, address, UEI/CAGE codes, business size/socio-economic classifications), past performance on relevant projects within the last five years (particularly infectious disease clinical trials, in vitro diagnostic device evaluations, and West African research experience), and technical and management capability including personnel recruitment, laboratory facilities at BSL-2 or equivalent standards, Ghanaian IRB regulatory expertise, and logistics management in Ghana. The Government will provide the GeneXpert machine, test kits, cartridges, and specified sample collection and shipping supplies. This notice explicitly disclaims any solicitation intent or government obligation to award a contract.
