About this file

This document is a Sources Sought Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of the Air Force Headquarters Air Force Academy (USAFA) for a high speed scientific camera. The RFI is seeking information from vendors who may be capable and interested in providing a camera that meets the following minimum requirements: frame rate of 35,000 frames per second or higher, minimum exposure time of 190 nanoseconds, monochromatic sensor, 12-bit depth, native ISO 40,000D, resolution of at least 1200x800 pixels, 80% pixel pitch at 532nm, MATLAB software integration, 10 Gb Ethernet connection, 128 Gb or higher memory, and weight less than 12 pounds. This RFI is for market research purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Quote or a promise to issue one in the future. Vendors are advised that the government will not pay for any costs incurred in responding to this RFI, and not responding does not preclude participation in any future solicitation.

Text version

THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY.

This RFI is issued solely to determine potential sources for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. This RFI should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose other than to gain the information requested for market research. The Government is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Respondents are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any potential future RFQ. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Contract Opportunities website (sam.gov). It is the responsibility of potential offerors to monitor this site for additional information pertaining to this requirement.

This RFI is to see if there is a vendor capable/interested in providing a high speed camera.

The Contractor shall explain how their capabilities meet the requirements stated in this RFI. The Contractor's proposal is expected to meet all requirements.

All requirements stated in this RFI are firm.

The US Air Force Academy (USAFA) has determined a need of a high speed full frame scientific camera. The camera is integral part of the research effort to improve ability to sense and correct for atmospheric turbulence and inform cadet and faculty research on directed energy.

At a minimum, the equipment must:

- Frame rate at full frame: 35,000 frames per second or higher

- Minimum exposure time: 190 nanoseconds

- Monochromatic sensor

- 12-bit depth

- Native ISO 40,000D

- Resolution: More than or equal to 1200x800 pixels per frame or larger

- Pixel pitch: <20 micrometers per pixel

- Sensitivity: >80% at 532nm

- Integration: Can integrate into MATLAB software suite

- 10 Gb Ethernet connection

- Memory: 128 Gb or higher

- Weight: Less than 12 pounds
