STATEMENT OF NEED: SUPPLY
Purchase Request Number: NF‐FS7300‐23‐01912
PURPOSE:
AFSC’s MML needs to purchase 3 syntactic foam deep water‐rated floats for use in passive acoustic monitoring studies in the western Gulf of Alaska. We are responsible for providing information on the timing and distribution of marine mammals in Alaskan waters and characterizing the acoustic environment of these spaces.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
MML will deploy three deep water moorings in the Gulf of Alaska, in depths ranging from 400 to 1000 m.
The floats must be 30‐35” in diameter, constructed of a syntactic foam, and coated in a polyurethane elastomer finish. They must be rated to a depth of 1500 m. They must have an on‐axis pad‐eye or similar ring for mounting and lifting, made from 316 stainless steel with an inner diameter of at least 1.5”. The hardware SWL must be at least 4,000 lbs, not including the buoy weight. They must have a seawater buoyancy of between 250 and 285 lbs, and a nominal in‐air weight of no more than 350 lbs. The buoys must be streamlined to reduce drag and flow noise.
REQUESTED DELIVERY DATE / PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:
Al floats should be delivered to NOAA AFSC as soon as possible, but no later than July 15, 2023. If the vendor is greater than 50 miles away from AFSC, they will include shipping cost in their bid.
SHIPPING ADDRESS:
Department of Commerce, NOAA NMFS Alaska Fisheries Science Center Building 4 7600 Sand Point Way NE Seattle WA 98115
