About this file

This document is a Special Notice for the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) SOLSTICE Proposers' Day. The SOLSTICE program aims to develop novel solar-powered and hybrid solar-powered systems with significantly higher power density than existing technologies, capable of maintaining performance over their mission lifetime in challenging remote applications. The Proposers' Day will be held on April 9, 2024 in Washington DC and virtually to introduce the program and provide information on technical requirements and objectives. Registration is required by April 4, 2024, with limited in-person attendance spots available. The program will focus on component technology development, system prototype development, testing, and refinement for earth-orbital and earth surface environments.

OVERVIEW

The IARPA Superior Opons for Long-life Solar Technologies with Impressive Conversion Efficiencies (SOLSTICE) Proposers’ Day meeng will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT in Washington DC, to introduce the SOLSTICE program to potenal proposers and to provide informaon on technical requirements and program objecves. A virtual atendance opon will also be available.

The SOLSTICE program aims to develop novel solar-powered and hybrid solar-powered systems with significantly higher power density than exisng technologies. These systems will be capable of maintaining performance over their mission lifeme in challenging remote applicaons, including in an earth-orbital environment (Track 1) and on the earth surface (Track 2). Novel component technologies and systems-level approaches will be leveraged to both maximize power output over a large range of operaonal condions and migate ancipated failure modes. This will lead to a significant increase in the total energy yield of a power system over its intended lifeme and greater resilience against ever-present risks. IARPA seeks technical approaches that improve and look beyond individual component performance to consider the systems-level challenges and opportunies to enhance useable energy and minimize loss. Careful consideraon of the intersecon of novel and established component technologies, including photovoltaics, opcs, thermal management/conversion, power electronics, energy storage, and other technical areas will be needed. The program will inially focus on component technology development as part of a system concept design, followed by system prototype development, tesng, and refinement for target environments. A dra BAA technical secon is atached to this announcement.

REGISTRATION

Parcipants must register by Friday, May 3, 2024, at noon EDT. Same day registraons will not be accepted. Limited spots are available for in-person atendance and early registraon is encouraged. Only two atendees per organizaon or research group will be permited to atend in person. The link to register is: htps://www.client-meeng.net/solsce-proposers-day.
