SCOPE OF WORK
DAVITS WHITEFIN BOAT
IL – CARTERVILLE FWCO
FABRICATION OF TWO ALUMINUM DAVITS FOR THE WHITEFIN BOAT.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, IL-CARTERVILLE FSHRS RESRC OFC, is seeking qualified contractors for the modification of two existing cable davits to convert them to telescoping davits that are capable of supporting survey equipment.
Components for this modification will include: a three-piece telescoping scaffold capable of being extended and shortened using the existing hand winches, a rotator mount plate, a transducer mount plate, and two transducer mounts. All components will be constructed from aluminum. The telescoping scaffold will be constructed of 3 inch, 2.5 inch, and 2 inch square tube. The rotator mount plate and transducer mount plate will be constructed of 1/2-inch flat bar, the transducer mounts will be constructed of 3/8-inch flat bar.
Modification of the davits will require the use of a fabricator with aluminum welding experience and the ability to either work on site or have the shop space to store and work on a 30 foot long and 14-foot-tall survey vessel. The contractor should have extensive experience with aluminum welding working on boats. Additionally, contractor should have a large welding shop capable of housing the boat during the work. Moreover, preferably the contractor should be local to the Wilmington Substation making it easy for the fabricator to check specs and dimensions of the prototype davit easily when necessary. The prototype is frequently used by substation staff and is not available to be loaned to the fabricator (i.e., the fabricator must come to the substation for measurements).
