The Contractor shall schedule any activities that impact Railroad Bridge operations prior to the start the activity. The Technical Point of Contact must approve all activities that impact the Railroad Bridge operations prior to the start of the activity.

2. The building and all its contents shall be protected from the elements during the duration of this contract.

3. Activities including but not limited to roofing demolition and installation shall be scheduled so that weather related events will result in no damage to the building or any of its contents.

4. The contractor shall keep on site the means to quickly cover and protect all areas open to the elements during an unforeseen weather-related event that could cause damage to the building, and or any of its contents during all phases of this contract.

5. The work area has limited access and will require a crane for the placement of material & supplies. The Contractor shall provide an appropriately sized crane that can reach from the staging area shown on Site Plan to the roof area.

6. Note: The existing EPDM roof is 60 mill and will be replaced with 90 mil EPDM. The existing rigid insulation has an R Value of 14 and will be replaced with an R Value of 30.

The existing roof slope is 3/16” per foot and will be replaced with a slope of 3/8” per foot. The existing Exterior Plywood decking is ¾-inch thick and will be replaced with 1-inch thick plywood.

7. Any proposed use of floating plant to access the roofs shall be coordinated and approved by the US Army Corps of Engineers and be in compliance with EM 385-1-1, Section 18.G 30 and 16.L. Barge work shall not interfere with navigation within the federal channel limits of the Cape Cod Canal. All floating plant work shall be coordinated with the Cape Cod Canal Marine Traffic Control Center at (978) 318-8500.

Demolition

Once mechanically prepped, the contractor will paint the steel support with the required coating product/paint in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. In addition, the contractor shall assume that no more than 50 square feet of steel will require painting.

2. The contractor shall replace all pressure treated nailers, exterior plywood decking, insulation and fascia.

3. Install the pressure treated nailers to develop a 3/8 inch per foot slope on each roof section. The nailers shall be attached to the steel support structure with the galvanized fasteners. The varying thickness nailers shall provide a slope to positively drain each roof area to the appropriate roof edge.

4. Install the 1-inch exterior plywood decking to the pressure treated nailers with the galvanized fasteners.

5. Install the insulation to the 1-inch exterior plywood decking to maintain the established slope. The insulation shall be fully adhered to the decking.

6. Install the EPDM membrane to manufacturer specifications for a fully adhered installation. All seams will overlap and be heat welded to form a waterproof seam.

7. Install the Walk Pads in the area as show in Roof Replacement Plan. The Walk Pads shall be adhered to the EPDM membrane with the manufacturer’s minimum spacing between each pad and within 18 inches of the roof edge.
