Aggregate Moisture - Prior to batching the concrete and at least once during a shift in which concrete is being batched, the coarse and fine aggregate moisture content shall be determined in accordance with ASTM C-566. The batch weights of both the aggregates and mixing water shall be appropriately adjusted to account for the available free moisture in the aggregates. The amount of free moisture in the aggregates, expressed as pounds of water per cubic yard, shall be recorded on the batching ticket and delivered to the Contracting Officer prior to placement during the shift. The Contracting Officer will have the option to request additional aggregate moisture content tests for each of the required tests.

Ensure 0.1 gallons per square yard Tack coat is used when relaying the base and top courses. Tack coat shall meet the requirements of (KYDOH SSRBC), Division 800, Specification Section 806.
Emulsified Asphalt tack coats of either SS-1 or SS-1h shall be used. Ensure the surface is dry, clean, dust-free, and between 70°F and 160°F.
If the application rate has not been achieved, reapply the tack coat to achieve the required application rate before placing asphalt mixture.
Placement of the new surface shall take place on the same day as tack coats are applied.
All contact surfaces including adjacent asphalt surfaces, shall be given a light tack coat prior to placing any fresh mixture against the joint as specified by (KYDOH SSRBC) Division 400, Section 406.03.03 item B, current edition.
After placing, the mixture shall be thoroughly and uniformly compacted by rolling per (KYDOH SSRBC) Division 400, Section 403.03.10, current edition, Option B.
Any mixture that becomes loose and broken, mixed with dirt, contains check-cracking, or is in any way defective shall be removed full depth, replaced with fresh hot mixture and immediately compacted to conform to the surrounding area. This work shall be done at the Contractor’s expense. Skin patching will not be allowed.
The formation of joints shall be made ensuring a continuous bond between the courses and to obtain the required density. All joints shall have the same texture as other sections of the course and meet the requirements for smoothness and grade.
Seed Application Seasons and Conditions:
Check Seed Application Seasons, conditions immediately before seeding, and restore soil to proper grade.
Do not seed when ground is muddy, frozen, snow covered or in an unsatisfactory condition for seeding. If special conditions exist that may warrant a variance in the above seeding dates or conditions, submit a written request to the TPOC stating the special conditions and proposed variance. Apply seed within twenty four hours after seedbed preparation. Sow seed by approved sowing equipment.
Seed Application Method:
Seeding method will be hydroseeding.
Hydroseeding:
First, mix water and fiber. Wood cellulose fiber, paper fiber, or recycled paper must be applied as part of the hydroseeding operation. Fiber must be added at 1,000 pounds, dry weight, per acre. Then add and mix seed and fertilizer to produce a homogeneous slurry. Seed must be mixed to ensure broadcasting at the rate of 5 pounds per 1000 square feet. When hydraulically sprayed on the ground, material must form a blotter like cover impregnated uniformly with grass seed. Spread with one application with no second application of mulch.
