Requirement in Detail: (2) Rapid Response Vehicle Truck Bed Caps – Ford F-450
The 105th Medical Group, Detachment 1 (Det 1) performs real-world medical response missions. The Det 1’s requirement is to be able to treat the first patient within 30 minutes of arriving on scene to a mass casualty-type response (i.e. building collapse, explosion, train derailment, chemical spill, terrorist attack, etc.). Two of the Det 1’s Ford F-450’s have been life-cycled and the new F-450’s are not equipped with truck bed caps. Gear is not authorized to be stored in uncovered truck beds for the Det 1’s FEMA Region 2 responses. For this reason, timeliness of responding to events is diminished because medical kits must be stored in trailers that take time to unpack. The proposed Rapid Response Vehicle Truck Bed Caps will allow the Det 1 to posture all essential medical gear for immediate availability upon arriving to the scene of an incident. These rapid response apparatus will allow the Det 1 to optimize response time to seeing their first patient on scene.
