About this file

This document is a Single Source Justification for the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), Upper Great Planes Region, seeking to purchase specific electrical equipment. The procurement involves a replacement for LE 645 disconnect switch, including a three-phase fuse holder (SMD-2B, part number 186926R1), a disconnect switch with 50E (part number 466050R4), and additional fuses. WAPA is limiting competition to S&C Electric as the sole source due to compatibility requirements with existing infrastructure, noting they already have 26 S&C SMD Fuses installed across their regions, which allows for shared inventory and consistent equipment standards.

The justification highlights that no additional market research was conducted because the equipment must be compatible with existing WAPA assets. The recommended source is S&C Electric, located in Chicago, Illinois, and the procurement is being processed under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) for Simplified Acquisitions. The rationale for single-source selection is based on recommendations from UGPR Protection to ensure proper protection of LE KZ3A and coordination with downstream customer-owned protection devices. While the specific price estimate is redacted, the document indicates that the manufacturer was contacted and the equipment was determined appropriate for WAPA's needs.
