About this file
This document is a Sole Source Justification for the procurement of Kiln dried Douglas Fir lumber that is treated in accordance with MIL-L-19140E, Blue XFX specification. The lumber is required to be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with the existing shoring materials onboard Amphibious Ships, as specified in AEL C180038024.
The key details are that the identified vendor, Transit Lumber Co., is the sole source capable of providing the specific lumber required, as previous sources were unable to meet the treatment and certification requirements. The new shoring must replace the existing yellow pine shoring that is not fire retardant or treated per the military specification. The agency, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk Office, intends to award a Sole Source Firm Fixed Price Contract to Transit Lumber Co. for this requirement.
