Enhancement of Student Learning and Competency Development: The acquisition of the VizMove PRISM Immersion Simulation Room from WorldViz will significantly enhance the student experience by providing a highly realistic, fully immersive virtual environment for EMT training. Traditional classrooms fall short in realistically portraying the complexity and unpredictability of emergency scenes. The PRISM Immersion Room overcomes these limitations by allowing detailed scenario and simulation training, helping students develop essential skills in scene management, situational awareness, and dynamic decision-making. Students will gain direct experience managing nuanced, real-world scenarios including mass casualty incidents, disaster preparedness, and complex emergency situations, fostering critical thinking, situational awareness, and scene management capabilities.

Alignment with Industry Standards and Workforce Needs: EMS professionals routinely encounter highly diverse and unpredictable environments. The PRISM Immersion Room provides a realistic training environment aligning directly with the expectations and standards of the EMS workforce. Local EMS employers and industry stakeholders emphasize graduates' abilities to manage scenes confidently and efficiently, making scenario-based training critical to the success and employability of program graduates. By exposing students to immersive, dynamic, and diverse scenarios, graduates will enter the workforce better prepared and more confident, aligning their training directly with industry demands and accreditation expectations.

Equity, Accessibility, and Opportunity Gaps: The PRISM Immersion Room notably supports equity by providing consistent and repeated opportunities for practice, which benefits students from diverse learning backgrounds. Its realistic and varied scenarios help students confront and overcome biases or discomfort in culturally diverse or challenging emergency situations. This immersive approach not only builds clinical and technical skills but also enhances empathy, cultural competence, and communication skills, reducing performance gaps and fostering greater inclusivity in student preparation and professional practice.

Sustainability, Longevity, and Institutional Collaboration: The investment in the PRISM Immersion Room aligns strategically with long-term sustainability goals. A similar setup at Arapahoe Community College provides a unique opportunity to share and collaborate on scenarios, maximizing resource use, sharing expertise, and improving educational consistency across sister colleges. This collaborative model ensures ongoing content evolution and scenario variety, continually refreshing and enhancing student experiences. This sustainable approach elevates the quality and attractiveness of the EMT program long-term.

Additional Considerations and Cost-Effectiveness: An important consideration is the specialized ceiling-height accommodation integrated into this specific PRISM configuration. While alternative construction costs to adjust existing rooms' ceiling heights might offset savings from selecting other simulation setups, the PRISM solution is adaptable and specifically designed to fit standard ceiling heights without significant infrastructure modifications. This consideration makes it both financially prudent and programmatically efficient. Utilizing existing campus spaces, such as room A0211 or alternatively room A0302, further demonstrates the thoughtful approach taken to integrate this advanced technology into current infrastructure seamlessly.

In summary, investing in the VizMove PRISM Immersion Room represents a critical advancement in educational capability, aligns closely with current industry needs, addresses equity considerations, and sustainably enhances the long-term strength and reputation of our EMT program.
