The satellite office operates under the authority of USAID/Philippines and works with technical and support offices from USAID/Philippines to ensure that USAID's portfolio is achieving the following objectives: 1) support the U.S. Government’s broader foreign policy objectives in Papua New Guinea; 2) address country and regional priorities; 3) complement other donor efforts;

and 4) ensure programmatic efforts reflect host country and U.S. government priorities. To maximize the impact of USAID's portfolio, the satellite office ensures the collaboration and management of relationships with the following key stakeholders: 1) U .S. Embassy Port Moresby;

2) other U.S. government agencies working in the country; 3) host country government; 4) international donor organizations; 5) multilateral and bilateral development organizations; 6) civil society organizations; 7) private sector; and 8) other key stakeholders.

USAID’s assistance focuses on helping Papua New Guinea address priority development issues. In Papua New Guinea, USAID contributes to improving health outcomes, strengthening peace and security, building resilience to the negative impacts of climate change and preparing for and recovering from disasters. Additionally, recognizing the traditionally low status of women and the endemic levels of gender-based violence, USAID integrates activities which address gender equity throughout its portfolio.
