1.1. Background

American Memorial Park honors the American and Marianas people who gave their lives during the Marianas Campaign of World War II. 5,204 names are inscribed on a memorial which was dedicated during the 50th anniversary of the Invasion of Saipan. Within the 133-acre boundary are white beaches, sports, picnic sites, playgrounds, walkways, and a 30-acre protected wetland and mangrove forest.

1.1.1. Existing Assets Background

The current PCU at the Administrative Offices was installed sometime in 2011 and is nearing is estimated design life. The replacement unit has suffered somewhat moderately in recent years, and the offices’ HVAC ducting system it is attached to needs a deep cleaning. After two major typhoons in 2015 (Soudelor) and 2018 (Yutu), the Park suspects either mold or mildew build-up in the ducting due to the system shutting down for extended periods of time in a humid, tropical climate.
