About this file
This document is a Scope of Work for the rehabilitation of the Pa-Hay-Okee parking lot in Everglades National Park. The project involves modifying the parking lot and associated work, with specific requirements including site excavation, grading, placing aggregate base, applying bituminous concrete, and installing new accessible and interpretive signs. Key technical specifications include compacting soil and aggregate base to specific densities, using Superpave SP-9.5 or S-III asphalt mix, and installing ADA-compliant parking signs.
The scope emphasizes environmental protection, with detailed provisions for preserving natural features and protecting threatened species such as Wood Storks, Eastern Indigo Snakes, Bonneted Bats, Florida Panthers, and American Crocodiles. Contractors must follow strict guidelines including working only during daylight hours, reporting wildlife sightings, and preventing the spread of non-native species. The project requires daily construction reports, independent material testing, and will be subject to a final inspection process to ensure substantial completion and acceptance of the work.
