The National Park System currently has 433 units (often referred to as parks), covering more than 85 million acres in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and US territories.

They are designated by acts of Congress or by the Secretary of the Interior (affiliated areas). The majority of related areas are not units of the National Park Service and are managed by other government agencies or non-government organizations and landowners. The National Park Service is involved in related areas by directly managing the entire or sections of a related area, or by providing technical or financial assistance.
The NPS preserves unimpaired natural and cultural resources, and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The NPS cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world.

C.1 FLIGHT 92 NATIONAL MEMORIAL (FLNI
On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, the attack on the U.S. Capitol was thwarted.
The flight data recorder that was recovered from the crash site revealed that the terrorists had reprogrammed the aircraft's autopilot system for a new destination - Washington, D.C. Recovered evidence and responses to interrogations revealed that the terrorists' intended target was most likely the United States Capitol Building, where the nation's legislators were in session. Flight 93 crashed only 20 minutes flying-time from Washington, D.C. Because of the quick and determined actions of the passengers and crew, Flight 93 was the only one of the four hijacked aircraft that failed to reach the terrorists' intended target that day. The passengers and crew showed unity, courage, and defiance in the face of adversity. Today the National Park Service, volunteers, and partners work to honor their actions, and understand fully the legacy of Flight 93 and the events of September 11, 2001.
For more information, please visit FLNI’s website at: Flight 93 National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service)

C.8 SPECIFIC LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. This procurement consists of locations within the boundaries of the Flight 93 National Memorial regarding the operation of a Potable water plant. The FLNI Potable Water Plant System consists of a 2 gallon a minute producing well which pumps into a small building, (Well House/Potable Water Building) The raw water starts to be converted to potable water in this building by first injecting AQUA MAG into the raw water line which flows through a static mixer and about 10 ft of waterline to a chlorine injection pump. Also, in this building an AQUA Scout Panel controls and monitors the well and level of a holding tank at a higher location. When the well pump turns on it pumps through the Well house /Potable water building to the higher elevation into a 5,000 gallon underground holding tank. The Holding tank services the detention time needed for chlorine contact and gravity feeds the FLNI Learning Center and Visitor center. The water comes into the Learning Center in a 2-inch line at 25-31 psi and then is boosted by a pump to a pressure of 45-50 lbs. After the booster pump the water line is plumbed into a dirt media filter that back washes daily. All finished and water samples are taken beyond this point.
2.
