STATEMENT OF NEED
The USGS Central Midwest Water Science Center will deploy a DNA Tracker unit in the Illinois River
Basin for the detection of algae species critical to the formation of harmful algae blooms.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
Quantity 1 EA, DNA Tracker Field Deployable Droplet Digital PCR machine, meeting or exceeding the following salient characteristics:
Required specifications / instrument capabilities:
1. field-deployable: The instrument is intended for deployment to the field and be sized such that typical USGS field crews can transport and install. The instrument must be rugged to withstand field conditions typically encountered in the Illinois River Basin. This includes operation in air temperatures that may range from sub-zero to 100 F.
2. automatic: The instrument will be deployed for both manned- and autonomous deployments.
Autonomous deployments will rely on USGS flow-through sampling setups designed to work with the Tracker unit.
3. web-connected: The instrument must include telemetry for web-based data transfer and display.
4. real-time data: The instrument must be capable of near real-time data processing and display. In the Illinois River Basin deployments, the anticipated data sampling/processing/display time-steps of 30-60 minutes is sufficient.
Standard Manufacturer Warranty
Pricing shall include all shipping expenses per unit and two sessions of on-site training.
