The Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the services herein. Contractor must be within a reasonable commuting distance, have the capabilities to perform this type of service, and possess industry standard qualifications to perform janitorial services. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who, in turn is responsible to the Government.

The facility was designed in close cooperation with the Nuwuvi (Southern Paiute) and exhibits explore themes related to the Mojave Desert, its rare wetlands, and the long human relationship with the landscape. With the onset of COVID-19, the visitor center and associated trails have been closed to public use in an effort to protect the staff and volunteers. With advancements in the fight against COVID-19, the Refuge has established strategies to begin phased reopening outdoor trails and amities around the visitor center and campgrounds.
