About this file
This is a Web Soil Survey map document produced by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service for the Clearwater Area, Idaho. The survey maps soil composition within a defined Area of Interest (AOI) covering 6.6 total acres as of the survey date of August 22, 2024. The AOI contains two primary soil map units: Map Unit 133 (Kauder ashy silt loam, 5 to 20 percent slopes) comprising 4.9 acres or 74.1% of the AOI, and Map Unit 178 (Noil-Bouldercreek-Rock outcrop complex, 45 to 85 percent slopes) comprising 1.7 acres or 25.9% of the AOI.
The survey was conducted using aerial photography dated August 15, 2022 through September 17, 2022, and the maps were compiled at a 1:24,000 scale using Web Mercator projection with coordinates referenced to WGS84 datum in UTM Zone 11N. The document includes detailed map legends identifying soil map unit polygons, lines, and points, as well as special point and line features such as rock outcrops, water features, transportation routes, and various soil condition indicators. The survey data is provided with the caveat that enlargement beyond the original mapping scale may result in misunderstanding of mapping detail and soil line placement accuracy.

The soil surveys that comprise your AOI were mapped at 1:24,000.
Warning: Soil Map may not be valid at this scale.
Enlargement of maps beyond the scale of mapping can cause misunderstanding of the detail of mapping and accuracy of soil line placement. The maps do not show the small areas of contrasting soils that could have been shown at a more detailed scale.
Please rely on the bar scale on each map sheet for map measurements.

Coordinate System: Web Mercator (EPSG:3857)
Maps from the Web Soil Survey are based on the Web Mercator projection, which preserves direction and shape but distorts distance and area. A projection that preserves area, such as the Albers equal-area conic projection, should be used if more accurate calculations of distance or area are required.
This product is generated from the USDA-NRCS certified data as of the version date(s) listed below.
Soil Survey Area: Clearwater Area, Idaho Survey Area Data: Version 18, Aug 22, 2024
Soil map units are labeled (as space allows) for map scales 1:50,000 or larger.
Date(s) aerial images were photographed: Aug 15, 2022—Sep 17, 2022
The orthophoto or other base map on which the soil lines were compiled and digitized probably differs from the background imagery displayed on these maps. As a result, some minor shifting of map unit boundaries may be evident.
