Town Creek Elementary School Underground Fuel Oil Tank Replacement ITB# SMCPS-2020-DoM-USTR2 Bid Opening Date: 06-02-20
Deadline for Questions: May 19, 2020
QUESTIONS / ANSWERS
Q1. Does the school district have approval from MDE to close the tank in place?
A1. We have not asked MDE for approval on behalf of SMCPS. We noted it on the drawings as to why the tank needs to be closed in place. This is something that typically the owner working with the contractor needs to ask MDE.
Q2. Drawing M1 - This drawing indicates 1” FOS & FOR but drawing M2 indicates 1 ½” FOS & FOR double wall fiberglass.
A1. 1” is correct we missed editing the pipe size on the detail.
Q3. Please note fiberglass cannot be used inside of buildings. Please clarify.
A3. The piping can be schedule 40 black steel or seamless copper tubing, preferably in a conduit similar to existing (can we reuse?) in the crawl space/pipe tunnel
Q4. Drawing M2 - This drawing is showing a 12” concrete slab at grade with 4” of crushed stone, 10 mil of poly and 15” concrete slab. Please confirm that you want two separate concrete slabs over the top of the tank or do you just want a thickened slab around tank openings. Please clarify.
A4. This can be a monolithic slab thickened around the tank openings.
Q5 Note 3: Not sure what this is in reference to. Please clarify.
A5. Drawing note 3 references the existing water heater location in the boiler room as shown on the plan. General note 3 just indicates all the existing oil tank and monitoring wells are located under a concrete slab to differentiate it from asphalt.
