About this file

This Request for Information (RFI) seeks information from interested parties regarding the development of a Static Line Automatic Activation Device (SLAAD) system. The Department of the Army Materiel Command Army Contracting Command intends to issue a solicitation for the SLAAD, which would automatically initiate reserve parachute deployment if the main canopy fails during airborne operations. Responses to the RFI are due by February 26, 2024 and should address the technical readiness of any proposed solutions, ability to meet key performance parameters such as reliability and weight, concept of operations, and pricing and timelines for prototype and production units. The RFI provides threshold and objective requirements for factors including system reliability, weight, compatibility with different parachute and aircraft platforms, data recording and retrieval capabilities, battery life, and environmental testing standards.
